Summer Lightning by P.G. Wodehouse
5.0
Before this, I had only read Jeeves and Wooster stories, and a couple of Drones Club ones. But I have been advised, wisely, by a few I trust to try the Blandings Castle ones. I'm definitely glad I did.
While some elements are the same, namely upper class twits getting themselves into ridiculous situations, the style of writing is somewhat different from the J and W stories, which is great and shows Wodehouse's range. The main differences are the slow build of this story vs the episodic nature of J and W as well as the much larger amount of fully developed characters in this. Both have their strengths, and I am glad to find that it seems I can keep reading new Wodehouse through the years and will not be disappointed.
These books are just pure hilarity, and I need a dose of that in my life. So do we all.
