What Belongs to You by Garth Greenwell

4.0

A poignant novel that beautifully explores both the rewards and consequences of desire. Love Greenwell’s writing style. His writing contains a ton of detail, but every detail feels essential to the story’s development: the movement of someone’s hands, the tone of someone’s voice, the ice on the sidewalk, etcetera. He also pulls off a detached, removed first-person narration (somewhat like Ishiguro) that I’ve been trying to achieve successfully for years, but always fall short.
