Filthy Lies by Serena Akeroyd
5.0
"She's my penguin"
If you've been obsessed with Serena's world and characters like I have, then you'll understand how much I've been waiting for Conor & Star's story. And it was everything I could've ever wanted from them and more!
I adore Conor and his resolute feelings for Star. He's simply the most kind-hearted, loyal, and wildly brilliant man and I could not get enough of his golden retriever energy (don't worry he's still a possessive mobster and knows how to go feral when he wants to). Conor and Star both have pain from their pasts and can connect on such a deeper level because of it. Conor knows that Star is a force all on her own and I love that he simply wants to stand by her side and fight with her as she goes about her plans.
Star has been through absolute hell and I've never wanted a female character to find her happiness as much as I do with Star. She's wicked smart, powerful, and devoted. She's suffered a lot of pain and therefore has no idea how to let others in. She started to when she adopted her daughter and had no choice but to let in Conor too. Reading her walls coming down has been so heart-warming and I can't wait to see more of Star's growth in book 2.
This book will have you in all your feels (at least it did for me) and I'm so excited to see how things play out in Filthy Truth!
