Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Difficult, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson

informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.25

I appreciate the range of this book! You can have anything from a sadistic, physically abusive parent, to a kind but emotionally neglectful one, and there will be stories that feel relatable.

If you’re just starting out in the acknowledgement and awareness of your parent’s immaturity, this book will probably feel like a splash of extremely cold water. It’s a great way to begin (painfully) affirming that what you experienced was not okay.

If you’re further in the process and have already grieved the loss of the illusion that your parents were emotionally mature, it’s still helpful affirmation and language.
