oh, wow. this will stay with me for a very long time. brutal and horrific, yet so full of hope. so desperately, wildly empathetic and tender despite it all. I don't have the words to review this properly, and maybe that is a review in itself. 

education is such a gift. there is such power in learning, about history, about ourselves; it can free us from chains we never knew held us down. this is a hard read, and very emotional, but I will be recommending it to everyone I know regardless.
