I was tricked into reading a self-help book…

The Alchemist is apparently a modern classic in the fantasy genre, even though the fantasy aspect is just intense spiritual enlightenment.
I’m not sure what my expectations were going into this read, but I expected more. Many people claim that this book changed their lives and attitudes towards their dreams. I bet these people also enjoy inspirational speakers and dramatic pep-talks.

As for the reading experience:
. The book was short and sweet. I wouldn’t consider it to be a waste of time even if I didn’t love the read. I enjoyed the audiobook narration.
. There are some good quotes throughout the book. I understand why people reference them often. Personally however, I felt many of the “awe inspiring” quotes felt forced or cheesy. Like they belong on a poster with the “hang in there” cat…

If you are on the hunt for a self-help book with vague fantasy elements, then add this to your lengthy tbr.
“So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you”
