There's Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon

After having read every book that Sandhya Menon has written, this one is my favorite! absolutely loved Sweetie's character, as well as the relationship between Sweetie and Ashish. Some moments in the book, mainly conversations between Sweetie and her mom were very heart wrenching and difficult to read, but made the ending even more emotional. I love how Sweetie is so determined to not let her mother's attitude get to her and her ability to not care what other people think and simply be herself.
My one complaint is that we got to know Ashish's friend group really well, but not Sweetie's. Each one of Ashish's friends had a distinct personality, while Sweetie's friends all blurred together for me and I would not be able to describe them or differentiate between them. Sweetie never had any interactions with any of them individually outside of the group, so they were very flat characters that could've been better used and developed.
