Well I didn't see that one coming.
Utterly beautiful. This book is so well paced, everytime it could have hit a lull it went in a different direction. Historical fiction about a period I knew next-to-nothing about and yet this book was pitched in a way that I didn't feel out of my depth at any point. I loved the narrative of the strength of female friendship that ran through it and this is one I'm sure to remember for a very long time yet.
