The Devil's Highway: A True Story by Luis Alberto Urrea

4.0

Audiobook: read by the author. I started this book as a replacement for American Dirt. This is non fiction but riveting and well narrated; both the written and the read.

The story of how cross-border smuggling works, the area, geography and weather, the players and the story of a tragic group of illegal immigrants who get lost and lose their battle against the harsh region. This was a recurring recommendation in the discussion threads criticizing American Dirt and i am very glad it was. Highly recommend.
