Steph's Outcast by Ruby Dixon
4.0

I feel like I've been anticipating Juth's story since before I even knew Juth existed. Anyone who has read much of Ruby Dixon's work may have noticed a pattern that no one is dead unless you witness their death on the page. So when the islanders kept mentioning the Outcasts, who were all extinct, I had a feeling they were, in fact, not all gone. That instinct was proven correct in Raven's Return. Now I'm holding out for the return of clan Longtail.

But back to Juth and Steph (and Pak!). Steph's Outcast is the ice planet version of single dad romance, and I'm here for it. I enjoyed the relationship between Juth and Steph, and Pak was simply adorable. I enjoyed seeing Juth the caretaker. It was also interesting to learn more about the clan dynamics, and I enjoyed seeing some of the barriers break down.

Outside of Juth and Steph's relationship, there's another big shakeup in the Ice Planet Barbarians/Icehome world that helps propel the overarching story forward. I'm interested to see what happens next!
