Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows
by Balli Kaur Jaswal
After what was supposed to be a “writing class” inadvertently turns into a community of widows swapping erotic stories, the main character discovers her “students” aren’t just a bunch of old Aunties swapping gossip and stories - each of the women is finding her own voice, and the author explores themes of being modern, honorable, passionate, and/or keeping tradition in a close-knit Punjabi transplant community.
I was uncertain when I saw this book’s title in my Libby recommendations, but would wholeheartedly recommend, with the caveat that yes, this book indeed contains excerpts of erotic stories, if that’s not your thing. I put the audiobook on hold maybe a year ago but it was well worth the wait! Side note: kind of funny to hear a British voice actor trying to do an “American” accent - but the recording was excellent otherwise!
