christinemomo 's review for:
The Midwinter Witch
by Lee Knox Ostertag
February 2023. Book three in a trilogy about a preteen boy who defies gender roles by being a witch, traditionally a woman’s type of magic user, and about his friends.
In book 3 he seeks more acknowledgement by his family by participating as a witch in a midwinter festival with all his extended relations, and his friend participates as she starts to embrace a family and guidance for her witchcraft skills.
I liked this one a bit less than the others but still quite a lot, a solid finish to the series. I appreciate the emphasis on kindness, friendship, and embracing others while getting it all across with it feeling part of the plot and not beat over the head with it. for sure recommend this charming trilogy of graphic novels.
Borrowed from Sac Library in physical form.
