If you ever read Lark Taylor's books, you know you're in for an emotional rollercoaster. For those that haven't, let me explain: Lark Taylor is like the Wizard of Oz.
They lure you in with humor and loveable sarcastic/sweet characters and then...bam...they pull back the curtain and expose the pain, suffering, and heartache. But just when you think your heart can't take it anymore, here they come with their hot air balloon full of happiness, love, and healing.
However, in this book she kinda skipped the first part. She did give us the loveable characters but we immediately saw behind the curtain, to the pain and suffering.
Finlay's soul had been full of pain, guilt, and sadness for centuries. He was just going through the motions but not actually "living". Then Chester came into his life, but Chester had only known pain and suffering. Chester's heart and trust were guarded like Fort Knox. But Finlay's patience, unconditional love, and some tricks (the loch and Buddy deserve some credit 😉) had Chester willing to slowly open the gates and experience what true love really was. And Finlay was finally able to lay his ghosts to rest and let his heart once again fill with love. As their love slowly bloomed with each bouquet of flowers, their heart and soul healed allowing them to truly embrace the happiness and love they each deserved. (Their attraction also exploded into some very 🔥🔥 moments)
But it was not easy for them. While trying to build their road to their HEA, they also had to deal with an old enemy returning, placing Chester and his new friend/employee in danger. But with help from old friends (hello old friends 😍) Finlay would not let history repeat itself!
Full of suspense, action, humor, healing, much needed self-love, and a beautiful love story full of so many emotions.
Now I really need the next book. Evan and Reid need to find their happiness asap! (and for Reid to release that anger in creative ways 😂)
