Transparent by Natalie Whipple

4.0

While the premise of the book (something causes mutations of "powers") certainly isn't unique, I really enjoyed Whipple's execution. I enjoyed Fiona as a character and I loved the friends she made. The romance was developed well and the "twist" for lack of a better word played out just right, in my opinion. There were two tropes this skirted the edge of, which I do not like (love triangle including siblings and miscommunication), but both were handled in a deft way that kept them from being the trope I expected (and loathe).
The ending felt a little bit abrupt to me, but I do see this is the first in the series, so I'd be curious to read the next book and see how things play out.
