Oh, I wish, I truly wish I gave this 5 stars. It was so close!  It’s alright however, I still rather enjoyed myself.
One of the biggest problems for me with Truly Devious was how long it took to get into the meat of things. The Vanishing Stair gets right into it with no distractions, which immediately bumped this one up for me. (If I may, I’d like to add that Maureen Johnson did a fantastic job at making me feel like I was happily reuniting with these characters after months, even when I started the book only one day after finishing the first one.) The second problem however, was the romance. And even though it has substantially improved from the first entry, it still isn’t great, bundling in a miscommunication plot line which at least seemed to be setting up future stories. However, the action, the horror, the intensity, all still there, and perhaps stronger than ever! I cannot wait to see where this story goes! Thankfully, I won’t have to wait for long. Seriously though (as I said in my review of Truly Devious), Netflix! Get on this!
