The King's Captive by K.M. Shea

I'm reviewing these as a trilogy.

What I absolutely LOVED about these books were that it really, truly felt like a cat lover's series. The people who own cats in these books are true cat people - ones who respect and love them as they are - and that was refreshing. #catlady4LYFE

Usually, I want my books to be smutty - I didn't mind the absence of it here, but the burn was almost too slow and we didn't get enough development once they are finally, officially, together.

I enjoyed the world and its lore, though I can't say I quite get it - it's in the midwest? At times I was reminded of Ilona Andrews' [b:Burn for Me|20705702|Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1)|Ilona Andrews|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1396368355l/20705702._SY75_.jpg|40025563] series - the Paragon, especially, felt a little borrowed from/inspired by Augustine, or perhaps that one quirky guy in the Kate Daniels series I'm forgetting atm.

Overall, I recommend reading it, though the third book had an odd plot structure and I really did not care about the mystery, I just wanted the love story.
