New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

1.0

This is your reminder that the actual, real-life Quileute people received no compensation from the Twilight saga author or filmmakers despite their tribe being exploited for Meyer’s story, and they deserve to be compensated for that. Review: Horrible. The lack of nuanced discussion about suicide, mental health, teen break-ups. The racist depictions of the Quileutes as angry, uncontrollable beasts. The absolute manipulation Edward bestows upon Bella at the end of the story regarding her mortality. I had a lot of fun listening this, but only for its pop culture place, not particularly for the content. Bella and Jacob’s friendship is sweet, and as a teen I didn’t appreciate that. Alice reigns supreme as my favorite character. I love the cameo of Laurent. Jane is also up there as my fave vampire of the series. The Volturis are the best lol
