The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen
3.0

This wasn't what I expected, and I think that was due to the audiobook narration. I thought the main character, a (girl) hockey player who had been injured in a game, would be much more of a no-nonsense jock and less a swoony girl in love with the unavailable guy.

Overall, her character seemed kind of blah to me. One listen to the audiobook will tell you why: Saskia Maarleveld is not a narrator for me. She just didn't capture the character. Nick Podehl, however, was brilliant - as usual. I wish we'd had more of his voice.

This is a classic case of a good book being brought down a notch due to the narration. The story was average but could have been better if the narration had been good. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me.
