The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler
4.0

A book full of action and hard-bitten characters who smoke and drink hard and talk in the language of the 1930s, filled with macho characters, sexism and casual racism e.g. "Cute, aren’t I?" she said. I said harshly: "Cute as a Filipino on Saturday night.". The story although a little convoluted moved along nicely and it was an ok read if you can look past its shortcomings. There were also a number of annoying typos in the Kindle edition, all in all maybe stick with the film.
