I was able to finish this extremely (and unnecessarily) long book. I love long books, so that was part of the appeal in the first place. However, I found this to be a slog. I enjoyed the time travel enough to want to know where it went and to push through to the end, but the structure of military logs used in a lot of it was quite tedious in the audiobook format. I mostly didn't find the characters interesting, except for Grainne who was vibrant and fun. Once she was introduced, the rest of the narrative felt flat without her in it. I wouldn't say I was disappointed in the ending, but it wasn't satisfying either.
