How was this ex-gang leader somehow the most wholesome and sweet MMC I've read in recent times? I mean, other than Edison of course. But man, Bishop is so sweet and devoted. And loyal.
The relationships aside from the main romance were great as well. Edison and his boss and his secretary were good. But Bishop's relationship with Trent? So good. Especially at the end there, with Skylar's stupidness.
And the father/son relationship dynamic with Mike was honestly the best part of the entire book. His whole 'Lil homie' thing to his 32 year old son was surprisingly adorable. And man, that man deserves some MAJOR credit for keeping Bishop at 15 yrs old after being raped by a 29 yr old married woman (Mike doesnt call it that, but even if he was down for it it was rape he was 15). Id read an entire book about just their relationship. He never shames him, never makes excuses for him, but apologizes repeatedly for his part in the fuckedupness that was Bishop's childhood. It was SO good.
