Love on Fire by Zach Jenkins

4.0

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Clay has an attraction to Ezra back in high school and almost acts on it, but runs before anything happens and before he can consider how he feels about it. He continues for years in relationships with women, until he sees Ezra again years later after he becomes single again.

Ezra seems a bit flighty when the book starts. He has no direction, doesn't seem to really care about anything other than being on his own, but then doesn't seem to be able to take care of himself. When he goes home to help his mom (after getting fired for being flighty and not caring), he comes face to face with Clay.

There are immediate sparks of attraction, but Ezra has to wait for Clay to come to terms with things and decide if he wants to get involved with Ezra and/or come out of the closet. Ezra never appeared to be the type to want to hide back in any closet and he does struggle with this aspect of his relationship with Clay. I didn't quite grasp what it was about Clay that made Ezra want to stick it out and want him so bad. They did make it work, however. The reveal of Clay and Ezra's relationship was done in a somewhat unique way, and I liked the reaction of Clay's friends and co-workers.

This was a 3.5 star read for me, but I am rounding up to 4 stars.
