I live for the ice dancing drama, made up though it may be. I ate this story up, the toxic insular mishmash of relationships was absolutely delightful. This actually makes me want to read Wuthering Heights, since I know Kat and Heath are based on Katherine and Heathcliff. (Okay, the names weren't creative, but we didn't need them to be!!)
Aside from the romance, I loved Kat's relationship with Bella Lin (Garrett too, but Bella was just such an interesting character). For a lot of the story, it felt like Bella was the only one who really saw every aspect of Kat's personality and loved her anyways.
The ending was somehow both satisfying and not, but I feel like it was perfect.I absolutely ate up the doomed narrative, where they knew they wouldn't keep the gold medals, but they went out there and EARNED them anyways! So much character growth, especially on Kat's part.
