Bee Season by Myla Goldberg

3.0

Currently I'm feeling a 3.5 on this one, but I'm likely to change. It took me a bit to get used to the use of the present tense throughout, but it lent the story an immediacy which led to the sense of the story as an out of control freight train.
In broad strokes, the author looks at spelling bees, but there is far more about Jewish mysticism, spiritual journeys, intellectualism and sanity.
