Thirteen Doorways, Wolves Behind Them All
by Laura Ruby
I really liked a lot of what was going on, but at times subplots and details felt scattered and random, and it was hard to attach new information to existing narrative, which, honestly, is a lot like my family history, and as her note states she was interested in the kinds of stories families tell about themselves, so I’d say that “wait but I thought” feeling this book gave me frequently matches up well with her intentions.
That being said, Fox/wolf remains the biggest remaining question mark. Like what was the point? Animal companion?
I did also find it helpful to go back and reread the first chapter after finishing.
Fun and fast to read, overall. Mind blown by how much of it seems to be rooted in real experiences.
