The Last Question
by Isaac Asimov
I read this years ago and stumbled across it again today. It's amazing how far ahead of his time Asimov was; this story is even more relevant today than 69 years ago when it was written. This short story and The Egg both evoke such a weird mix of comfort in explanation of life's greatest questions and chilling unease in the ambiguity of it all.
Even more ironic is that when I couldn't quite find the right words to explain that last thought, ChatGPT was super helpful in brainstorming.
