Nightshade by Anthony Horowitz

2.0

Nightshade has so many layers to it, and each is more sadistic than the last. It boils down to being a sadly poor attempt to continue a series that should (as much as it pains me to say because I love Alex so much) be coming to it's end.

Once you introduce trauma and mental health into a character, there is only so much you can pile on before they start to break. Thirteen books, and he's still coping? Everything is still all sunshine and roses and 'maybe they'll leave me alone this time!'
Seriously?!
A version of Scorpia Rising should've been the end. Alex Rider has a captive audience with all these kids who grew up with him, only he never did.
I would love to see Horowitz move on with Alex, let him grow up. Let's see what he does as an adult.
