Meet Cute
by Meredith Russo, Dhonielle Clayton, Julie Murphy, Nicola Yoon, Ibi Zoboi, Katie Cotugno, Jocelyn Davies, Kass Morgan, Katharine McGee, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Nina LaCour, Emery Lord, Sara Shepard
Meet Cute, was a fun little book I would recommend reading at the beach or while sunbathing (just like I did!)
Siege Etiquette by Katie Cotugno: 2/5
A very typical meet cute to start the book off. No risks were taken with this, and I found it to be quite forgettable. The main character was quite annoying and cruel, it was hard to get into the story when I didn't really like any of the characters.
Print Shop by Nina Lacour: 3/5
I thought this story was so adorable, and I loved hearing about the print shop, I will say though that it took a while to get to the 'couple' actually meeting, the story was more about this girls new job than it was a 'meet cute'.
Hourglass by Ibi Zoboi: 2/5
This was one of my least favourites, which is a shame because I really did like the main character. There wasn't a 'meet cute' at all just two people meeting in a normal way on the last page, like Print Shop, Hourglass was more about this girls' life, and it was kind of boring.
Click by Katherine McGee: 3/5
McGee created an adorable adventure in only a few pages. It was sweet, I just felt it was a little flat, I can't put my finger on why, so the 3 stars is really just a matter of personal opinion.
The Intern by Sara Shepard: 2/5
This one wasn't necessarily bad but I literally just had to read the first page again because I wrote down the title and I couldn't remember this one AT ALL. Sweet but unforgettable.
Somewhere That's Green by Meredith Russo
I haven't rated this one because, once again, I cannot remember this one at all and I'm not looking for my kindle right now. I really really can't remember this.
The Way we Love Here by Dhonielle Clayton
I can't remember this one at all either. Did I even read this book????
Oomph by Emery Lord: 4/5
At this point I'm giving this a high rating JUST because it wasn't completely forgettable. However, I did actually really like this one, this was probably the first ACTUAL meet cute in the whole book, it was adorable, sweet, I loved both main characters, and now I'm wishing I can meet a cute girl in an airport.
The Dictionary of You and Me by Jennifer L Armentrout: 4/5
Loved this! It was quirky and fun, I was rooting for this couple from page one!
The Unlikely Likelihood of Falling in Love by Jocelyn Davies: 4/5
Adored this one immediately, the whole idea was a tad obsessive, bordering on creepy, but true to the title it was definitely a meet cute, one which I enjoyed immensely!
259 Million Miles by Kass Morgan: 3/5
Again, this was one that I really enjoyed, the idea was new and fresh, but it wasn't too big that it felt like too much. The only reason I didn't give this one more than 3 stars was because although it was a meet-cute, the couple have no chance which made the ending kind of depressing.
Something Real by Julie Murphy: 5/5
This was my absolute favourite story! Having these two girls fall in love in a non-conventional way was so endearing, I think I actually re read this story because it was so lovely.
Say Everything by Huntley Fitzpatrick: 2/5
After reading several stories which I generally enjoyed, this one was kind of a let down, it was sweet, but I just felt like it was kind of bland.
The Department of Dead Love by Nicola Yoon: 3/5
I felt like this one was just too ambitious, there was a whole dystopian sort of system which I was meant to get used to, there was a history which the main character had, and the whole meet cute was more of an obsessed boy on a rebound. I felt really odd about this story, the protagonist had been dumped 6 months ago and was still absolutely obsessed with this girl, and instead of just asking her why she dumped him, he had to begin a full investigation. I just felt like this was one massive red flag, which made the end of the book a huge disappointment.
Meet Cute had a mixture of good and not-so-good stories, I would only recommend this book if you really loved the authors, or if it was 99p on the kindle store.
