Dead-End Memories: Stories by Banana Yoshimoto
5.0

This book is so calming that I forgot I was delving into its characters' story (instead of my own lol).

I like this book a lot! Especially the first and second story. After reading those two stories, Banana Yoshimoto instantly became my favorite author. The way she portrays her characters and how the characters see the world was so... mesmerizing. Even I remembered one line that captured my heart so deeply,

'I guess this is a feeling of being blessed'

Gosh, that was so gut-wrenching. I actually feel so grateful for the rest of the week after reading that line (I have relapsing depression (TMI lmao), so that was a good week).

This book captured human's feeling and traits in a wonderful way. Although it's heavily based on Japanese people, but I really think the content of this book could be applied to the rest of the world. We, humans, always have something in common, despite of the background we have. And you might find this book helpful for you to see the world in a way that (probably) you've never thought of. And this is fiction and has a multiple short stories (that is alone, a win for me!).

To be honest, I didn't remember a lot from the rest of the stories. But, this book is so beautiful at its finest. The moment I close this book, I feel so blessed and really want to turn back time to read it again.

5/5 stars. [Read on Google Play Book]
