I was scared it was going to be a super problematic book about tourists vs locals and superstitious lore- but was pleasantly surprised it was more about humans being humans vs nature and the unknown. I’ve seen too many movies with the trope and was happy this wasn’t entirely the case (except for a handful of stereotypes - but I think they worked more against the protagonists than anything else).
