Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

3.0

I have mixed feelings about this one. Though I liked that we had an antihero, a villain actually, as the main character, I found her annoying. How could she know all these things about politics and like? Also, she could not make up her mind about the village boy and that ended up tiring me. The concept of snow white through the eyes of her step mother was interesting. The becoming of her wasn't that much of becoming, as we find our queen to be already evil and ambitious. So, there was a small character development when it came to her. Another bonus for this one was the chinese influance background (I had finished The story of Yanxi palace, a chinsese peroiod drama with almost the same story, at the moment, so I was in the 'mood') However, the pace was slow and the action scenes few and sparse.
