Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, Emma Rice
4.0

I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Like others have mentioned, the main characters are quite nasty. However, there is love that cannot be altered in spite of the nastiness.

"He is more myself than I am. Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same. " Easily became one of my favorite quotes of all time. Along with: "If he loved with all the powers in his puny being, he couldn't love as much in eighty years, as I could in a day." Such a deep, unwavering love. Profound. I think this is why I was still able to like Heathcliff in spite of his horrible and nasty personality and Catherine, in spite of her fickleness and brattiness.

I enjoy reading books from this time because I like imagining life then. It is amazing how people have always been fickle about love and companionship. Time has changed so much and yet so much has gone unaltered.

I'm glad I finally read this book. I truly did enjoy it in all of its nastiness and morbidity. I would read it again.
