Did not finish book. Stopped at 70%.

i tried. i really did. but from about chapter 5 on i just knew this book wasn’t for me. i thought i was going into a book about obsession and fandom and parasocial relationships. And i guess that’s what this is. it’s just the most pretentious version of it. the writing felt contrived to the point that i was beginning to feel insane. and maybe the author wanted that. and i enjoy a little pretension from time to time. but this didn’t meet my expectations.

tldr; i couldn’t bring myself to care. that’s really all it is.
