This was a well-paced horror story that fizzled out by the end. What started as a classic tale of tech gone wrong evolved into a waking nightmare featuring the undead, the possessed, and the mutilated. The ever-changing horrors kept me turning the pages, but eventually the author lost control of the story, unable to tie up all the loose ends and deliver a satisfying conclusion.
As for the characters, I found Thiago to be likable and relatable. But because the story was always told from Thiago’s perspective, it was hard to get a true sense of Vera’s character. She felt more like his muse than his partner.Diane was the only other character with some development, and her death felt unnecessary.
