My Instructor Won't Yield
by Deme Kingyobachi, 金魚鉢でめ
Thanks Kodansha and NetGalley for a copy of these earc in exchange for an honest review!~
My Instructor Won't Yield, which also appears to be known by "Car Crush", follows a male driving instructor named Chiba. He is seen as the top instructor to crush on by all the women that he's helped instruct, so he tries to have men be the ones he helps train. He is adamantly against any sort of romance involving someone from his place of employment due to a traumatic event from his past. That is, until Yaotome shows up, a very attractive grown man who's personality is in stark contrast to his looks. We follow the two as Yaotome tries to get his license so he can drive his new cat to the vet *sobs*.
I found this to be a very cute and soft yaoi with an equally soft art style. I think our two MMC have good personalities and drive (no pun intended) and interact well with each other. There was nothing super toxic in this volume, the one thing was between one MMC and an ex, and the one miscommunication is very quickly resolved. I absolutely adore some of the small side characters and how supportive they are of getting these two together. I really appreciate that Yaotome's job shines through in his personality at unexpected times! And what an unexpected career for him to have!!
For those of you that don't like any sort of sex/explicit scenes in their manga, this one is for you :) A few intimate moments, but they fade to black!
This is volume one in the series, but I think it reads very well as a standalone so you won't have to worry about a cliff hanger.
My main complaint is we didn't get to meet the cat, like come on!!!
