A well done time-travel book that has magic and a little bit of romance. The writing was a good balance between description, narrative and action. Story has great characters and plot. I appreciated how the author tackled how our heroine, Xanthe, would appear in the past and made sure she attempted to use proper language and behaviors suited to the time period she went too. I don't like time-travel novels in which the traveler doesn't fit in or attempt to do so, it totally ruins the story. I loved the idea that our heroine, Xanthe, could feel the story/history of certain objects. How interesting that these items "talked" to her. As an audiobook I can say this was very well done. The reader/actress did a marvelous job with the different characters and the tone.
