I saw this book pop up on my Instagram, kept seeing it in B&N and one of my favorite podcasts (Morbid) raved about it too. Let me say that Neva/Fern got on my nerves. She was extremely whiney and indecisive. A little girl that wanted to play at magic but didn’t have the heart to see it through. If I had to pick a favorite out of the cast, it would be Rose and Holly. To imagine that this was how things were in that time period and to look at how things are going with our current state of affairs is eerie. I think I was hoping more for The Craft level of witchery but instead it was middle school Sabrina with a few high school friends that are all trying to escape the Home and keep their babies. And of all the restrictions that were put on the girls, how is smoking cigarettes (bippies) allowed?
