LOVED. Protagonist Amari is struggling as an outsider at school and against the difficulties faced in her neighborhood—especially once her brother goes missing. Cue getting thrown into a magical world of supernatural beings, many of whom might not be what they seem—including Amari herself. This book is Harry Potter meets Nevermoor meets Men in Black. I loved it so much. “This book is my heart.” - B.B. Alston’s authors note at the end.♥️😭
