Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong

Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated

Flaws of characters a main focus: N/A

This was dark, thrilling, horrifying and downright weird. And look, those are all things I genuinely love but there was just something legitimately off about this story. I almost wish it had been darker, there was just a very YA vibe to a lot of the tone and dialogue that took you out of what I imagine could have been an extremely creepy tale. I love Kelley Armstrong’s storytelling and writing style. The detailed descriptions of the island, the scenes and all the macabre set such a horrific setting. Some of the twists were surprising and well executed. The main twist was definitely shocking and completely out there. Expect the unexpected with an Armstrong story, there was not a single part of me that even remotely guessed what was going on with the island. A quick and entertaining read for sure.
