Revenant by Larissa Ione
4.0
I was a little hesitant to read this one, mainly because the previous book wasn't my favorite thing, but I'm glad that I finally got around to finishing the series. This was so addicting to read, and I devoured it in only a few sittings!
The big sell for me was the chemistry between Revenant & Blaspheme. You could feel the air crackle between them every time they were around each other, and it was a blast to observe. I also think that Rev's back story, as horrific as it was, made him a more vulnerable character than I had originally anticipated. Give me a tough character showing their vulnerable side any day of the week, and I'll gobble that trope up every time. The author, undoubtedly, excels at providing that very thing.
I'm only docking some points off because the ending felt too convenient. I get that this is a romance, and those all follow a certain formula, but the events surrounding our main couple seemed a bit rushed. The big fight at the end started and ended way too quickly, but I suppose that's to be expected with the shorter page count of the book.
Overall though, I really enjoyed my reading experience. The lore is great, the characters are fun, the angst is palpable, and the drama is highly entertaining. I think this series will stick with me for a while. If you're a PNR fan, I would absolutely recommend reading these books.
