Toothiana, Queen of the Tooth Fairy Armies by William Joyce

4.0

In this installment of the Guardians of Childhood series, we learn quite a bit about the Tooth Fairy. The child of a mortal and a fairy, she was hunted by humans who found her wings freakish. Knowing that there are memories in a child's teeth, and great power in those memories, she began collecting the baby teeth of children, leaving them precious gems and metals in return. But the parents grew suspicious and attempted to trap the tooth fairy. In escaping the humans and worse hunters, greater powers are unlocked in her, and she emerges powerful enough to become one of the Guardians.

As usual with these books, it's the information we get about Pitch that is more interesting (though, in this case, there's nowhere near as much disparity in the quality of their stories). It's small, but we begin to wonder if the young girl Katherine and the monster Pitch may be more closely connected than anyone would want.

Another good continuation for fans of the Rise of the Guardians. I'd say it's the strongest thus far!
