Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen
4.0
adventurous medium-paced

An extraordinary tale of adventure but also an exploration now into deep colonialism, the world as it once was, and observational anthropology. After being in Kenya for nearly a month, I was affected quite deeply to the way of life that the author lived hers. A true woman of the world. Dinesen is a true writer, an imaginer, a conjurer of images that are both deeply racist but also! That’s the time! And so extraordinary. I paired the book with the movie and actually liked it a lot. There is so much to be said about the relationships in this book that I wish the movie went deeper into and vice bersa etc but overall an extremely insightful and heartbreaking look into pre-war II Kenya
