Gone, Baby, Gone is NOT a pick me up. It deals with the atrocities perpetrated upon children, subject matter that is always unpleasant, and that is even more difficult for me to read now that I have 2 young boys. But there is no denying the quality of both the story and writing. The story grabs you at the outset, and doesn't release you until days after you've finished it. It twists and turns in unpredictable ways, features well-developed characters, and contains a lot of personality.

Bottom line---it was a very quick and enjoyable read, and highly recommended for anyone who enjoys detective/crime/mystery stories.
