Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

4.0

It had been quite some time since a book captivated me to the extent that I completed it in just one sitting. However, "Yellowface" was unique and different. It absorbed me completely, leaving me desperate to continue turning its pages, unable to look away as June Hayward's character unfolded, showcasing her flaws and complexities.

"Yellowface" explores the journey of two women who are neither good friends nor enemies: Athena, an accomplished Asian American writer, and June, a White writer. When Athena tragically passes away, June seizes the opportunity and claims Athena's unpublished manuscript as her OWN.

I admire R F Kuang immensely for her boldness. "Yellowface" is a work of complete and utter genius. I don't think any other author could have pulled this off.

I definitely should say that this is the only book I enjoyed in which all the characters were morally grey and annoying LOL.

Should I read Babel next?
