I finished this because of a long plane ride and for no other reason. Such false highs and real lows in this uneven tripe. I like the framework of starting a new chapter with Arthur’s travels, but we’re never present for the point of any of the trips. Why stop short of that delivery?! Why not explain why all the students were sick? Why didn’t we get to see the wedding that he traveled to? Why would we care to find out who the narrator is? And why ... WHY?!??!! ... would you use an omniscient first-person narrator who we isn’t “revealed” until the final scene?! How would that person be omniscient when he wasn’t present for the majority of the scenes?!??!! Side note: this book won a Pulitzer. How?!
