Othello by William Shakespeare

4.25

shit, man. there's so much to unpack here. racism, classism, the fear of women's sexualities and the taboo nature of speaking of it, anxiety and the things it begs us to do, and the terrible consequences if you give in to that anxiety. it was like a mirror reflecting parts of me back at myself.

iago is a conniving little slug who i hated with all my being, and therefore i think he's an excellent villain. and the ending? nothing has broken my heart quite like that in a while. desdemona begging for her life while othello is blind to how honest and true she's been because of "honest" iago... heartwrenching. terrible. beautiful.
