The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima

5.0

I am so sad to be finishing this series. I've been listening to the audiobooks by Carol Monda this time.

I'm a broken record, but the world building, character development, and the balancing of multiple POVs and plot lines is absolutely incredible. If you are sick of limp and watered down YA and like fantasy, please give this series a shot. It's on par with adult epic fantasies without losing sight of its younger target audience.

I am in love with these characters. I'm in love with the world, and I'm not ready to leave yet... but the secondary series (starting with [b:Flamecaster|23253083|Flamecaster (Shattered Realms, #1)|Cinda Williams Chima|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1440425181l/23253083._SY75_.jpg|42795212]) starts out with the
Spoilertragic death of one of our very favorite characters
. I don't know if I can face that given my current state of real-world grief. But we'll see. I'm going to give it a go, and if it's too hard, I'll have to switch to a different book.
