A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold

5.0

How on earth did I give 'A Civil Campaign' only 3 star the first time I read it? I couldn't put it down and was just cracking up with laughter the entire way through.

It's such a refreshing pace to see our main characters fall in love, especially over the length of 2 novels. We had a real chance to see Ekaterin's growth throughout the novel and the sheer cluelessness between her and Miles was truly lovely. I could actually relate to her outrage when she realised how Miles has been manipulating her, and the letter that Miles writes makes me melt.

Maybe I'm just getting older now, and normal hijinks and romance are all I'm really after now.
