I read most, if not all of this book in high school but I didn’t remember it so I thought it deserved a reread. I liked this even more than I did in before. The prose, the setting, and Mrs. de Winter’s narration were so compelling. Mrs. de Winter’s painful insecurity in the first portion of the book is 100% relatable to my early 20s. Mrs. Danvers was a great and genuinely scary character as well. And of course, Rebecca. All the characters’ awe and obsession with Rebecca is haunting and deepens the gothic vibes. A captivating story with complicated characters and relationships!
