So this is the second book in the Teardrop series. Because I liked the first book, I was curious to read the sequel. Poor me.
Let's start with how the action scenes are written. Too little attention is given to important things, so the heart of the scene is lost. I was often confused about what was happening. For example, the main character suddenly had a spear in her hand, while I had no idea where it came from.
The romance is cringe as heck. The main character can't control her hormones for a minute and constantly wants to touch him. For example, she wanted to touch his ✨gorgeous✨jaw line right after she almost drowned. Girl, you good?
The characters are flat and experience little to no evolution. 90% are teenagers. Either they are 100-year-olds in the body of a 15-year-old, or they are just real teenagers who behave like that.
The ending might have been good if I didn't get the great idea to read through the last pages as fast as possible. I just wanted to get rid of the book at that point.
All in all, I was never in the story. I didn't feel anything for the main character or empathise with her. There was only one character I liked, and he appeared in this book maybe five times. Although I still liked the Fallen series, this is probably the last book I would read by Lauren Kate.
